The E127 series 100 series appeared in 1998 for the Nagano area as a series following the 0 series that was introduced in advance in the Niigata area. -According to the design of the 701 series introduced in the Tohoku region, it has a different front shape than the 0 series, and is active in a wide range of areas such as the Oito Line (between Matsumoto and Minami Otari), the Chuo Main Line, the Shinonoi Line, and the Shinetsu Main Line (between Kobuchizawa and Nagano). There is also a formation equipped with a pantograph called a defrost pantograph on the Kuha E126 in response to the harsh winter environment. The defrost pantograph has a current collection function added around 2014, and wiring is installed on the roof. Since 2016 (2016), renewal work for running equipment has also been carried out.
