●The JR Freight EH800 is the first AC electric locomotive since the transition to JR, replacing the ED79 and EH500, which were no longer operational on the Tsugaru Kaikyo Line following the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. It features an LCX antenna, a train radio system similar to that used on the Shinkansen, and is equipped on the two end bodies, giving it a distinctive bulge. In addition to pulling freight trains between Higashi-Aomori and Goryokaku, it also pulled the Cassiopeia Cruise, a group-only train, from June 2016 to February 2017.
