The 255 series is a DC express train collectively known as the "Boso View Express", and was launched in 1993 to replace the 183 series. It operated as an express train on the Uchibo Line and Sotobo Line on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, and was nicknamed "View Sazanami" and "View Wakashio" until the timetable change on December 10, 2005, and is currently mainly used on the "Shiosai" on the Sobu Main Line.
