●The JR Shikoku 8000 series is a direct current express train from JR Shikoku, the prototype of which appeared in 1992. It uses a controlled natural pendulum system, and is available in 5-car and 3-car formations with non-through and through leading cars, and in addition to being split or combined into 5+3 cars, they are also used as single formations. Mass-produced cars appeared in 1993, and large-scale interior and exterior renovation work was carried out from 2004, with further renovation work and paint changes to be carried out from 2023 onwards, and the train continues to be in service today, changing its appearance with the times.
