-ICE4 "Federal Republic of Germany" formation began operation in 2021 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the start of ICE operation. The commemorative paint job on the body stripe is the colors of the German flag (black, red, gold (yellow) from top to bottom). It is nicknamed "Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany)" and the name is inscribed on the side of the leading car. It is a 13-car formation called "XXL", and has one more second-class car than the 12-car formation.
